Short CV Zhu Huayong was born in 1971. He received Ph.D. Degree in control science and engineering from National University of Defense Technology (NUDT) in June, 2000. He is currently a Professor with NUDT, and director of Unmanned System Lab. His research interests include autonomous control, intelligence system and mission planning of Unmanned Aero Vehicles.

17:00 Supporting Mobile Robot's Tasks through Qualitative Spatial Reasoning

Abstract: In this presentation, I will demonstrate an application of qualitative spatial reasoning technologies for supporting mobile robot tasks. While focusing on detection of interaction ability, the combination of the spatial reasoning calculi RCC-8 and CDC as well as their integration with OWL-based ontologies will be covered.

26.06. Adaptive Locomotion Control of a Caterpillar-like Robot Using Policy Gradient Reinforcement Learning

Zusammenfassung: This presentation will focus on the combination of CPG-based controller with reinforcement learning method. The CPG model is responsible for gait generation, while the reinforcement learning part plays a role in mapping between sensory information and the import rate of stimuli to the CPG model. Simulation result shows that this control structrue is able to achieve adaptive locomotion for a caterpillar-like robot on irregular terrain.

17:00 (CINACS-Kolloquium) Communication through line graphs: Graphical cues, gestures and haptic line graphs

Abstract: Statistical line graphs are widely used in daily-life communication settings, including newspapers, research reports and scientific articles. Human communication through line graphs involves the contribution of multiple sensory modalities, such as vision, audio, gesture and haptics, as well as multiple representations in the same sensory modality, such as graphical entities and language in written form, both are in visual modality. In the first part of the talk, I will present a set of experimental investigations, in which human participants were asked to sketch graphical cues on time-domain line graphs, to verbally describe graphically-cued sketches and to predict verbalized graphs among alternative representations. In the second part of the talk, the plan for future research on haptic line graphs will be presented.
